Dhanya is a Teacher, Student, Devotee, Tantric, & Seeker of Truth.
For almost two decades, Dhanya has been a practitioner of Bhakti Yoga, and in 2015 started living six months of the year in the jungles of West Bengal. It was there that he began his inner journey settling in a humble Ashram, above a cow sanctuary at the confluence of Maa Ganga, and the Julungi rivers, at Sri Mayapur Dham. His days were spent caring for cows, studying Vedic literature, and meditating on the Holy Names of Lord Hari.
Few Millennials have taken up the arduous yet beautiful path of Bhakti Yoga, in modern time, having such a profound impact on the hearts and minds of young contemporary seekers, as Dhanya Dasa.
First initiated as a child to his mothers Guru, Sri Bhgavan Rajnish (Osho), Dhanya is a lineage holder of the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya Sampradaya and a disciple of His Divine Grace Hridayananda Dasa Goswami.
Having lived in India for almost a decade, Dhanya received mantra diksa from Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma the "Hugging Saint") and the Kalachakra initiations directly from his friend His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama, before meeting his own spiritual master Srila Acharyadeva, in 2017.
A singer of rare and extraordinary ability Dhanya Dasa took birth in Vancouver, Canada, studied theology at the University of Manitoba, and completed his voice training with the legendary soprano Montserrat Caballé, appearing with opera houses, symphonies, and theaters around the world.
"An amazing voice, truly a gift from God." Says His Holiness Radhanth Swami.
Trained in Kirtan by Bhavananda Dasa (Goswami), one of the most senior disciples of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada founder Acharya of the Hare Krishna Movement (ISKCON), Dhanya is dedicated to mentoring young singers in this ancient Indian tradition of call and response devotional singing.
Dhanya is an accessible teacher, although perhaps a reluctant one, who began training Kirtaniyas, in 2015, as the head voice instructor at the Mayapur Kirtan Academy, West Bengal, and as a guest instructor at the intentional spiritual community of Auroville in Pondicherry.
Dhanya Dasa has become a mentor and spiritual friend to many along the way and does not charge or ask for remuneration in his journey to promote and spread the devotional practice of Kirtan and Bhakti Yoga.
Dhanya has given workshops and led Kirtan in NYC, Toronto, Paris, Jugannath Puri, Vrndavan, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Rishikesh, Florence, Seattle, and Copenhagen.
